The Virtual Astronomy Multimedia Project (VAMP) is an initiative focused on developing metadata standards and best practices for astronomical images and multimedia resources. Operating under the auspices of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and the International Virtual Observatory Alliance (IVOA), VAMP proposed the Astronomy Visualization Metadata (AVM) standard for tagging digital astronomical images with structured metadata including telescope information, celestial coordinates, and observation details.
