SNOMED International, formally the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation (IHTSDO), is a not-for-profit organization that owns and maintains SNOMED CT, the world's most comprehensive clinical terminology used in electronic health records. Founded in 2007 by nine charter member countries to acquire SNOMED CT from the College of American Pathologists, the organization works to make clinical terminology development a collaborative international effort, enabling consistent representation of clinical content across healthcare systems worldwide.
