Research Organization Registry
ROR
Community-led registry providing persistent identifiers for research organizations worldwide.
Community / Open Project Active
The Research Organization Registry (ROR) is a community-led, open dataset that provides persistent identifiers for every research organization in the world. Launched in 2019, ROR complements other commonly used identifiers such as ORCID for researchers and DOI for research outputs. Initially seeded by data from the Global Research Identifier Database (GRID), ROR took over as the leading open organization identifier. The registry is jointly operated by California Digital Library, Crossref, and DataCite, and its data is freely available under a CC0 license.
