GS1 is a global not-for-profit organization that develops and maintains standards for barcodes and supply chain technologies, most notably the UPC/EAN barcode system. With 120 local member organizations covering 150 countries and over two million user companies, GS1 provides a comprehensive set of standards for product identification, data capture, and electronic commerce, including the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), Global Location Number (GLN), and the GS1 Digital Link standard for connecting physical products to the web.
