Providing access to Europe's digitised cultural heritage through a shared digital platform.

The Europeana Foundation is the governing body of Europeana, a web portal created by the European Union that aggregates digitised cultural heritage collections from more than 3,000 institutions across Europe. Incorporated under Dutch law, the Foundation manages access to records of over 50 million cultural and scientific artefacts. In the metadata domain, Europeana has developed the Europeana Data Model (EDM), a rich linked data framework for describing cultural heritage objects, which has become an influential reference for metadata aggregation and interoperability across galleries, libraries, archives, and museums.
