The European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) is an intergovernmental research organization and part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). Located on the Wellcome Genome Campus near Cambridge, UK, it provides freely available data resources and bioinformatics services to the global scientific community. EMBL-EBI maintains major biological databases and data standards including UniProt, Ensembl, and BioSamples, and contributes to metadata standards efforts such as BioSchemas and ISA framework tooling.
