The Citation File Format (CFF) Community develops and maintains the Citation File Format, a YAML-based format for providing software citation metadata. CFF files (CITATION.cff) are placed in software repositories to make it easy for users to cite the software correctly, and are natively supported by platforms including GitHub and Zenodo.
