buildingSMART International, formerly the International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI), is an international organization that develops and maintains open standards for information exchange in the construction and built asset industry. Its most prominent contribution is the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC), a neutral and open specification for Building Information Modelling (BIM) that enables interoperability between software applications used across architecture, engineering, and construction. The organization also develops the Information Delivery Specification (IDS) and the buildingSMART Data Dictionary (bSDD).
